BDMCC General Meeting Minutes

February 2009

The meeting was brought to order at 7:35p.m. with several communications that are being passed around and will be available after the meeting.

The Secretary’s Report was held over for the next January’s meeting.

The Treasurer’s Report was approved as read.

Jim will make an amendment to the offer for the Lowell Property purchase by the end of the week.  Several area foundations will be approached by the club for funding.  Pat invited all to attend a meeting this Thursday at the Lion’s club at 4:00p.m. to go over ideas for the ways to approach and talk to those in which we will be seeking money from.

Next up is island updates.  Island #6 has been bid and awarded to W&D Navis Excavating who has started work today and will be rocking tomorrow. There was confusion with the bid for adding to island #1 and we have to decide which contractor to go with.  Island #1 will take less than $4,000 to add top soil, more rock to get ready for seeding this spring.  Written plans and models are needed for islands #1 & 7 and 2-5 also need guidelines for the future.  Art is going to look into if a permit is needed to cut brush and make a groin to prevent land erosion so we could do the work as a club.

The feature guns for the annual dinner were set with ED Chase as sponsoring #1, Midstate Amusement with #2 and #3 was pending donor’s answers.  Tom noted that a Kachur/Herbert gun raffle will also be part of the dinner.  A dinner meeting will be held at the Lion’s Club on February 10 at 6:00p.m.  Tom said that Bill Hayes has offered to have an artist come to the dinner and paint a picture while the dinner is in progress and auction it off at the end of the night.

Old business was started by Don Stowe.  He has tickets for Battle on Bago for the club to assist in selling and in return the club will receive 60% of our ticket sales.  Many prizes are to be given away and ticket stubs can be turned into Tilly’s.  Art announced that the DNR will only be doing a survey this spring for Northern Pike on Lake Poygan only.  Pat Fisher wants club and DNR permission to band pelicans.  Art stated that no study is in progress, it is disrupting to other birds, and that there is no scientific value to it.  The club decided to partner with the DNR in their decision.

The meeting was called for adjournment at 8:25p.m first by Vicki and seconded by Lowell.
