BDMCC General Meeting MinutesAugust 2009
The meeting was kicked off at 7:34p.m. The following were announced as guests of this months meeting: Kevin, Marcia, and Taylor Lisney, and Joe Ramsey. They are from Empowered Dreams which will be discussed later. One communication was from Matt Bakalaris to see if the club had any interest in purchasing wetlands. With a land purchase in the works it was declined. The secretary’s report was read and it was amended with the question as to how the gift certificates were coming for those who worked the dinner. It was noted that they should be set in a week and will be handed out as the individuals are seen. All else was accepted as read. The treasure’s report announced and accepted as read. Several expenses such as boat repairs, accounting fees, printing items, and the sign for the property were a few noted. Tom introduced the guests as part of the Empowered Dreams in which they assist disabled or sick kids to go hunting. We worked in partnership for a fundraiser for them and their cause. Next up was old business starting with Art saying it was too late to plant the prairie grass, but if we get it planted late, it should come up the spring. He also noted that the bigger trees should be brought down. Fencing needs to be put in place along with the top gridlines to keep off the gulls and other undesired birds off the islands. The sign is complete and was set to be picked up on August 15th and will be mounted at a later date. Sharon noted the boy scouts will be at the property on this date and are looking for other projects to do. They were given the idea to clean up the walking trails a bit. Don tentatively set a date with Pheasants Forever to come to the property soon for a tour and to see if our club is worthy of a possible donation. Tom noted the summer raffle was about half over time wise and that the bars loved it. August 13th was set for a meeting at 6:30p.m. at the Lion’s Club for organizing the party for those who took part in the raffle and to announce the winners. Meeting places for the general membership meetings was set through next March and will be posted on the website. New business started off with the club deciding that a lifetime membership will now be offered to the members for $1,000 which would also include a few extras for those donating. The new gate combination will be set by Pete this week. Gary Nelson wanted us to sell tickets for our raffle at the Poygan’s club get together coming up, but the club thought it was best to decline. Randy Marx noted the Sovereign State Parade went well with the nine that helped hand out flyers to encourage donations and knowledge of the property. Good job to those who worked on the grant from the DNR as the club was announced as the winner of the $200,000 grant as long as we can match it with $100,000.
The meeting was motioned to end first by Vicki and seconded by Nile at 8:52p.m.
