BDMCC General Meeting Minutes
Annual Meeting January 2011 The meeting started with Glenn, Mark and Todd from the Battle on Bago. Their raffle program helps other organizations that help raise funds for their February 25th and 26th event this year. Please see our website for tickets and information or ask a club member. Please help support them and our club by selling and buying tickets. The new elected officers were Jim, Don, and Randy for another three-year term. The board is as follows: Jim the president, Don the vice president, Bruce the treasurer, and Alexis the secretary. The state of the club included last year’s banquet going well along with the 15-gun raffle. The negotiation and purchase of the Robbin’s property added to what the property the club owns. The banquet plans are already in motion and all the past and present board members and all members were thanked for their hard work. The Secretary’s report for last January and December were approved as read. The Treasurer’s report included large expenses of the land purchase and the banquet. The finances were also moved from Anchor to Associated Bank. All was approved as read. Biologist Art Techlow was present to give the state of Lake Butte des Morts. He said Lake Winnebago was not very clear and had little vegetation and Butte des Morts was clear and had good amounts of vegetation. The two have switched and it is known why this is. No removal or tagging of fish was done this year due to the rough fish being kept and sold and this can’t be done since it is considered a state resource. Hopefully next year this can be worked out to allow for the habit to be more natural. The DNR is looking to tag walleye to better study them and are asking for donations. The amount of terns in the area has increased once again to about 37. Money from the Dot will be used to re-do the islands within the break wall in September 2011. Next guest speaker water specialist Andrew Sabai discussed his vegetation survey. He noted that Lakes, Butte des Morts, Poygan, Winneconne, and Winnebago were surveyed. Vegetation is needed to slow wave action, help water clarity, and for fish habitat. Please see out website for full details of the changes throughout the years and what plants are present. Roger volunteered to help clear the islands this winter. Thank you to Al from the Westward Ho for providing the food and to our guest speakers. The meeting was called for adjournment at 8:40 p.m. first by Pete E. and seconded by Randy M.
