BDMCC General Meeting Minutes

July 2009

The meeting was called to order by Don Stowe as Jim was unable to be present.

The Secretary’s report was updated for a correction of the balances being for May not June.  All else was accepted as read.

Next up was the Treasurer’s report which was read by Don as Bruce was out of town.  It was accepted as read.

Art gave an island update stating that work needs to be done as soon was possible to be able to plant this year.  A work day was set for this Saturday to work on the islands and to possibly get the cane bed signs up.

The welcome/thank you sign should be done in about a week and the criteria for whom to be placed on the sign was set as only a few so far.  All were asked to recall the past as to who donated what and who should be placed on the sign.  A later date will be set for the sign to be mounted.

The poker run is in the works and it is too soon to tell how things are going.  Don stated that the Pheasant’s Forever group sounds very interested and was a good possibility to get a good donation from.  The point was made from them of what would keep us from going to a private club in the future.  The point was made but had to be verified that a grant we received in the past was to be used for public property only and that the club might have to return the money given if we were to go to a private status.  The appraisal for the DNR grant was cleared up and accepted.  Also articles were in both the Northwestern and the Post Crescent raising more awareness of the property.  Other major groups were noted that they should be sent the option to help donate money for the land acquisition.

New brochures were donated and look great.  They are available for those who want them to hand out or place at a location of their choosing.

The club has decided to be in the Sovereign State Parade in Winneconne.  Flyers will go out to all and brochures to a select few.  Volunteers are needed.

Jay said the beetle population looks plentiful and needs to be released in the next week as the life of the plants is near the end.

Art said that more needs to be done to get more water fowl back to the islands.  The water clarity of the lake and the water within the break wall are opposite.

Sharon announced that the boy scouts are looking for more projects and that she worked on the boat surfacing.

The meeting was called for adjournment first by Vicki and seconded by Pat, at 8:33p.m.
