BDMCC General Meeting Minutes

May 2009

The meeting was brought to order at 7:40p.m.

The secretary’s report for the month of March was read as April was the annual dinner.  It was accepted as read.

The treasurer’s report was read for the months’ of March and April and was approved as read.

Next was the property update in which the big grant for the club property went in on Friday.  Other fundraising ideas were to go to individual organization for donation, have a dinner in Oshkosh to try to pool a different clientele, and to use Craig’s list and other internet resources.

The poker run is another fundraiser the club is going to do this summer. Pete, Beth, Jim, and Tom have been working to organize the event.  The basic idea is that 15 bars will be in the poker run. A book would be given to the customer in which they have to go around to the listed bars and buy a raffle ticket at each location.  The club wants to support bars that have support us and have the customer buy tickets at all the locations.  The book would be turned into the bar that they bought the last ticket at.  If the customer buys a ticket from all locations before the September deadline the customer is entered into a bonus drawing.  All the raffle tickets would be brought to the Lion’s Club on Saturday September 19.  The event will run from about 1-6p.m.  Food and refreshments will be available for purchase and all the tickets will then be drawn.

A recognition award was given to Jay Sadlon for his work with the club from 2001-2009.

Old business started with Jay saying that a couple hundred students from UW-Oshkosh came to the property to pot 70 plants for the beetles to reproduce on.  The pontoon boat was set to go in to have the engine tuned up and washed up before it is to go into the water for the season.  Once the boat is back, the cane bed signs need to be put into place.  Next up was the idea to have only every other summer meeting at the property to try to get more members to attend.  It was approved by all and that general meeting for July and September will be at the property and June and August will be at the Butte des Morts Lions’ club.  Hats and sweatshirts with the club logo are now available for sale.  Randy handed out a few leftover gift certificates from the dinner and Sharon announced the scouts will be planting wildflowers at the property sometime soon.

The meeting was call for adjournment at 9:02p.m first by Ken and seconded by Pete.
