In order to raise
funds for the Land Acquisition the Club held a Poker Run Gun
Raffle over the summer at 15 participating area bars. Each bar
hosted a different gun on display and tickets could be purchased
for that individual gun only at that bar.
Participants were
given a booklet (available at any of the bars) to be stamped
upon the purchase of a raffle ticket for each gun. There were 15
guns total and if you purchased a ticket for all of them you
were entered into a bonus raffle for a $1,000 cash prize awarded at the Club picnic
September 19th
from 1-6 pm at the Butte des Morts Lion's Park. There was
food and refreshments, along with the music of D.J
Sonny.
Tickets were $5 each or 3 for $10.
All funds
raised went towards the purchase of 18 additional acres of
wetlands to add to Terrell's Island.
