Bridge and Hiking Trail
A bridge connecting the parking lot with the berm on the other side of the dredge bank has been completed. This
bridge is the first phase in what is hoped to be a long and scenic
walking trail on the property. This project was chosen because the
breakwall area cannot be seen from the road going through the property.
The trail will offer an excellent view of the breakwall containment area
and surrounding habitat which currently can only be seen by boat. The trail will
be constructed on the existing berm and will be planted with desirable
grasses. The majority of the trail will be a primitive walking trail. As funds
become available, a handicap accessible viewing platform will be constructed at the beginning of the
trail. It
will be open most of the year weather permitting. It will be closed
during the duck hunting season for safety reasons. This will be a
tremendous undertaking which will require much labor and money. If you
can help with either, please feel free to get involved.
