Bruce Loberg called the General Meeting of the Butte des Morts Conservation Club to order on Monday January 12, 2026 at Butte des Morts Lions Club at 6:30 pm.
1. Communications
a. Sturgeon Committee – Jordan will link meeting minutes in next Marsh Talk
b. Winneconne Town Reporting – It was asked to move from mandatory reporting to voluntary reporting for our club. It did not pass. Jordan added town board members to our e-mail list so they are aware of any happenings.
2. Property/Trail Update
a. Guideposts Brochure – Lawanda working on
b. Lift – scrap the lift. Will look at in the spring.
c. Breakwall Update – currently in Phase 2
i. Permit was changed to do allow work during Sturgeon Spearing and it also includes open water with some amendments needed to landings.
ii. Radtke is low bidder. Ice work is $55k short in funding. Open water work would be $200k short in funding. Site visit on 1/15.
iii. WHPF $440k grant ends March 26 – trying to get done what we can with ice option.
d. Fish Stick permit is valid for 5 years. That would be ice work but putting that on back burner for now.
e. Removing inside rock project –Art continues to work on
3. Fundraising
a. Not going forward with Spring Raffle – Focus on selling Battle on Bago tickets.
4. Old Business
a. Strategic Plan – Always looking for leaders
b. Grant with UWO – Art will follow up on this
c. Clean up of Buildings – Did second full load from garage. Garage does need repair. Bruce will contact Matt MacArthur from Night Hawk Construction to see if he can get us a quote.
d. Bridge at parking lot – Bruce will develop a sketch for Ty Johnson of an 8x8 handicap viewing platform.
5. New Business
a. We now have a virtual phone number that goes directly to Jordan’s phone. The new phone number is 920-310-6560.
b. Board Nominations – We are short a Treasurer and Board Member
i. It was brought up to possibly combine Treasurer and Secretary roles
ii. We will meet separately for a By Law Change Meeting
The meeting was adjourned by Art Techlow, seconded by Don Stowe. The Next General Meeting will be on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Butte des Morts Lions Club.
