January 16 2023 General Meeting Minutes

Date: January 16, 2023

The General Meeting of the Butte des Morts Conservation Club was called to order on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Westward Ho at 6:30pm by Bruce Loberg. Minutes were read and accepted. Treasurers report was read and accepted.

 

  1. Fundraising
    1. Cash Raffle – In place of our Spring Banquet we will hold a cash raffle in May. $20/ticket – 750 tickets sold. Give away 10 cash prizes. Drawing will be Monday, May 8th 7pm at Westward Ho. Tickets will be available at our February meeting.
    2. Battle on Bago – Bruce is attending banquet on February 16th and will turn sold tickets in then
  2. Communications
    1. Sturgeon Advisory – Stacy provided an update from the November Sturgeon Advisory meeting
      1. Species status – Margaret, our Strugeon Biologist is doing everything in her power to provide them with information as to why Sturgeon Spearing is an important sport in Wisconsin
      2. 2023 quotas are decreasing from 2022
      3. Daylight savings – the bill is still on the floor of the house so no changes will be made this year for the 2023 season
      4. Sturgeon Spearing Registrations are back to normal, pre-pandemic
    2. Town of Winneconne – Bruce attended December meeting and all is good on our end
  3. Property/Trail Update
    1. Trail will be closed starting Wednesday, December 7th until further notice due to breakwall project.
    2. Breakwall – Update 3 is done. Contract for HyWay is signed. Prices are held for 2 years.  
  4. Parking Lot Cameras – Estimate of $4800. Looking for funds – Jordan will post online and on Facebook that we are looking for donations
  5. Guns – Shopguns.com was not interested. Bruce will take the guns to Scheels to see what we can get for them.
  6. Lawn Mower – Still looking for a lawn mower – 46 inches or larger in great condition. Suggested budget $2500. Dave Lux will check around at a couple different places.
  7. Membership Cards – Jordan will make changes that were suggested and get new cards printed.
  8. Board Members – Voting took place for Treasurer and Secretary – Kevin is Treasurer. Jordan is Secretary.   
  9. Future General Meetings – We will be skipping July 2023 General Meeting

 

Meeting was adjourned by Kevin Stowe, seconded by Ken Meier at 7:24pm. Next General Meeting will be Monday, February 13, 2023 at The Westward Ho.
