November 13 General Meeting Minutes

Date: November 13, 2023

The General Meeting of the Butte des Morts Conservation Club was called to order on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Winklers Westward Ho at 6:30pm by Bruce Loberg.

 

  1. Communications        
    1. We did receive a $500 grant donation from Oshkosh Area Community Foundation
    2. Winnebago Fisheries – Tom Bett attended October 18th meeting with 13 other clubs. These meetings will become yearly. A more detailed report will come out soon. Tom will forward any trowling opportunities to Jordan to let membership know.
    3. Winneconne Town Report – Bruce will be attending November 16th meeting
  2. Property/Trail Update
    1. Fall Clean Up – tentative date, December 12th. Bruce will be in contact about definite date in near future.
    2. Bruce will be attending a November 16th breakwall meeting. All permits are secured. We just need cold! If there is no good ice this year, we would potentially need to rebid.
    3. Art did speak with Andrew and he is interested in working with us. His proposal is $6400.
    4. Jordan completed the Wiouwash trail clean up on Monday October 16th
  3. Fundraising
    1. Spring Raffle – Bring any raffle suggestions to our January meeting
    2. October Calendar Raffle
      1. Everything went great! All tickets sold out.
      2. Suggestion for next year: get e-mail addresses
  4. Parking Lot Cameras – Inquiring on Solar power option. Waiting for updated quote from Brian. The Oshkosh Community Foundation grant does need to be used by December 31st.
  5. Brett Favre Gun – Bruce has the gun. We will hold off on doing anything with the gun until further notice.
  6. Building Maintenance – December 11 – AREA Waterproofing and Concrete will be repairing the Hickey School House. $27,000 was withdrawn from Oshkosh Area Community Foundation. Added: On December 11th when they started working on the building, the contractors found two walls where the block was not good on the lower part. This was not seen for our original quote. To do both walls with 10-inch block was an additional $5,000. It was approved by the board to go ahead.
  7. Battle on Bago – Bruce will be attending December 13th meeting and bring tickets to sell to January meeting.
  8. Wood Duck Houses – 10 Bluebird were replaced through a troop project done by Landon McCollian from Troop 623 in Omro. Landon would like to rebuild more houses for us but is short $300 for lumber. Bruce will check with Eric at Omro Lumber to see if he will donate any. Otherwise Don Stowe made a motion for the club to donate the $300 to the troop. Brad Winkler seconded.

Meeting was adjourned by Kevin Stowe seconded by Ken Meier at 7:35pm. Next General Meeting will be Monday, January 8, 2024 at The Westward Ho.
